Texas General Land Office Oil, Gas, and Geothermal Lease Sale FAQs

When will I receive the invoice for the tracts I won?

Within three (3) hours following the sale, an invoice will be sent by EnergyNet to the successful bidder via email for each tract won and the amount due to the Texas General Land Office. Invoices are also available on the Buyer's Homepage. Please call EnergyNet at 866-364-4688 if an email is not received within three (3) hours following the sale.

When is the invoice due?

Submit the payment due for the bonus and all fees within two (2) business days to EnergyNet. One payment for all funds due is acceptable.

What are the payment options?

Remittance to EnergyNet may be made by wire transfer, automated clearing house (ACH), or overnighted cashier's check. Full remittance instructions appear on the invoice.

What if the payer is different than the bidder?

If the payer differs from the bidder, simply reference the invoice number with the wire payment or overnighted cashier's check.

What if the bidder name is different from the entity that will hold the lease?

If the lessee's name will be different from the bidder's name, designate the appropriate Lessee Name on the Lessee Information Sheet provided by EnergyNet on the day of the sale. The completed form is returned to EnergyNet.

When will I receive my Lease documents?

The Texas GLO prepares lease documents and sends them directly to the identified Lessee for execution. Generally, leases are issued within four to five weeks. The effective date of the lease will be the same day as the sale, and leases are not effective until approved by the Commissioner.
